More Pressure, More Problems, More Power!

If you’ve ever worked on a tedious long term project then you know how challenging it can be to stay focused. Especially when you don’t enjoy the project.

But these projects have a hidden bonus, PRESSURE!

Pressure pushes our limits and helps us develop finesse. Tough situations take us out of our element and transport us into a moment of adversity. Ideally, no one WANTS to be stressed. This is why we have a tendency to overlook opportunities for growth when they aren’t on our terms.

We’ll do push-ups to build upper body strength, but not cardio because we “hate it”. We’ll play pickup soccer games, but we won’t be goalie because it’s “boring”.

I’ll boot Windows to download a program. The second I see a Windows update prompt I immediately switch back to Linux because I don’t “feel like waiting”.

The results of pressure are ultimately beneficial to all. After working hard and enduring the struggles, you learn how to deal with a specific situation. You can also apply that lesson to other projects and experiences down the road. You’ll be better off than the “old you” and that alone can push you to work efficiently on your projects.

Work, endure, get stronger, work some more, endure, get even stronger…recursion at its finest!

Evolving as a person is always wonderful, but it’s not easy. While it’s easy to do what comes naturally, exiting your comfort zone and challenging yourself does wonders for your growth! Next time you are working with those undesirables or you’re tasked with something you don’t like, give it your best shot!

Worst case scenario, you’re stronger than you were yesterday. You can’t lose!
